destiny® wins ‘Environmental Product of the Year 2010’ at the DM Awards

The destiny® io2 digital pen has been awarded ‘Environmental Product of the Year’ at the Document Management awards in London on Thursday 15th October.

This award recognises the destiny® digital pen’s positive impact on the environment, but also its hardware and software initiatives within the Document Management and Enterprise Content Management sectors.

The destiny® digital pen, which integrates Anoto Digital Pen technology, replaces paperwork delays and expensive journeys back to the office with a simple and energy efficient way of collecting accurate data from the field and transmitting it back to base in seconds.

Destiny® technology makes a positive environmental contribution, and actively helps businesses to cut carbon emissions. Dramatic energy savings of up to 30% can be made by managing mobile workforces more effectively. Fuel consumption is significantly reduced since there is far less need for people working in the field to return to the office to complete paperwork. The destiny® digital pen consumes significantly less energy than larger alternative devices such as PDAs and hand-held computers. The process also involves less paper than traditional multi-part carbonless forms, since it normally only generates a single sheet which is left with the customer.

Edward Belgeonne, CEO and founder of destiny® said; ‘We are delighted to win this award and very pleased the destiny® digital pen has been recognised as an environmental product. We understand the pressures that businesses face to remain responsible in regards to their environmental impact, as well as trying to keep costs down, and the destiny® digital pen provides the answer.’
